Seasons
A circumhorizontal arc (the colour in the clouds just above the mountain) is a seasonal phenomenon. Indeed, the Sun is only high enough in the sky to produce this phenomenon for a dozen, or so, hours a year. It is discussed under haloes.
Kootenay Lake has four distinct seasons and they mark the differences in the weather, the track of the Sun across the sky, the level of the Lake, variations in foliage, and the comings and goings of many animals.
This section notes a few of the rhythms of the Lake.
